Clair de Lune is approximately an hour and a half from the coast and the resort Arcachon which, among other things, boasts Europe's biggest sand dune. Bordeaux, France's wine capital is now also its second most beautiful city, it is modern and cosmopolitan and a great day out. For the wine enthusiast you can't go wrong by taking a visit to St. Emillion only 50 minutes drive. Bergerac is typical French town with great architecture and night life.
Drive or fly direct to Bordeaux or Bergerac
There are a number of different ways to get to the Villa Clair de Lune, you can fly direct to Bordeaux (about an hours drive) with BMIBaby from Manchester and Birmingham. Bergerac (about 40 minutes drive away) fly with Flybe from Birmingham, Bristol, Exeter, Leeds and Southampton or RyanAir from London, Liverpool and the East Midlands. You would need to hire a car but this is a great way to see parts of France not normally covered in the travel brochures. If you choose to drive from the UK Brittany Ferries operate an over night service from Portsmouth to St Malo.
South West France Climate

It does get very hot but not so hot you cannot sit in the sun, plus there's always the advantage of being able to dip in the pool at any time to cool down.
Your Monsegur holiday home
The Villa is situated between the lovely old bastide towns of Duras and Monsegur. Duras is approximately 2 miles away and has a wonderful Chateaux, bars, restaurants and shops. Monsegur is about 3 miles in the opposite direction and also has shopping, restaurants and bars, there is also a weekly market. Monsegur is probably best known for its International Jazz Festival in July, which attracts jazz musicians and singers from all over the world. During the 3-day festival, the whole town comes alive with the sound of music.
The Villa is centrally located and you will find golf, fishing, cycling, rowing, days out and many other activities. A list of markets, nightlife, music and events for the area can be found here.
